San Diego’s Newest Executive Knows His City

Earns Spot as Principal with Prominent Structural Engineering Firm on West Coast

Zubaid KarimSAN DIEGO, CA (May 22, 2007) – Degenkolb Engineers is proud to announce Zubaid Karim as Principal at its San Diego office. In this role, Karim will be responsible for securing and managing projects, providing expert guidance, mentoring engineers and reviewing applications of quality management.

“We are excited to have Mr. Karim and his knowledge of new design, health care and commercial structures as a part of our team. An engineer of Karim’s caliber will be a welcome addition in San Diego,” exclaimed Degenkolb President and CEO Chris Poland.

Karim has extensive experience working on engineering projects in San Diego. His most notable projects include the University of California, San Diego Engineering Building and Mandell Weiss Theatre, Sloana Beach Train Station, as well as San Diego’s distinctive Miramar Metroplex Pyramid. Karim has also worked on additions for Children’s Hospital and Mercy Hospital.

Committed to fostering structural engineering talent and investing back into San Diego, Karim collaborates with students on matters of structural investigation, construction administration and seismic evaluation and retrofit as an adjunct professor at The New School of Architecture and Design in San Diego. Prior to accepting the position with Degenkolb, Karim served as Principal for SMR-ISD Consulting Structural Engineers, which formed from a merge between SMR Structural Engineers and an engineering firm Karim founded, Integrated Structural Design (ISD).
