Top Structural Engineering Firm Makes its Own Upgrade
Degenkolb Schedules Labor Day Office Move
SEATTLE, WA (August 14, 2007)— Degenkolb Engineers will move its Seattle office to the heart of downtown Seattle at 600 University Street over Labor Day weekend. The move, from the current location at 720 Third Avenue, will allow Degenkolb to double its Seattle employee count.
“Green” in décor and design, the new office incorporates sustainable building materials and energy efficient technology. Working with local architect, Collin Woerman, the Degenkolb staff closely followed Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) specifications as set forth by the United States Green Building Council. And as with all Degenkolb offices, management fosters a green mentality. To honor the lush surroundings of Seattle and the city’s official nickname, the interior design scheme resembles the distinctive look of director Victor Fleming’s 1939 Emerald City.
“We are excited to grow and continue working on projects in the Pacific Northwest out of our new state-of-the-art office in Seattle,” said Stacy Bartoletti, Degenkolb’s chief operating officer and group director for the Pacific Northwest. Degenkolb is one of the leading expert firms in earthquake and structural engineering.
The move will not change Degenkolb’s practice areas or its current services. The facility upgrade will improve the firm’s ability to lead the field in structural design, rehabilitation and renovation of higher education, advanced technology and health care facilities. The Seattle office is currently working on the seismic upgrade of the Compton Union Building at Washington State University, the design of Olympic Medical Center which is in construction.
