Prescription for Priority Patient Care
Three buildings. One owner. One goal: Unify three buildings to provide better service to cancer patients. This formula required close collaboration and consistent communication. The expansion provides chemotherapy treatments in addition to the radiation therapy already available. In order to remain true to the client’s patient-centered philosophy, Degenkolb worked closely with the architect and owner. The result? Graceful walkways and exposed steel canopies that effortlessly transition patients and providers through the facility. To meet the challenge of integrating new construction with an existing facility, the architect chose extensive glass and brick veneer for exterior finishes. The heavy exterior demanded a structural system that was elegant and substantial enough to support the weight. Degenkolb provided the design for a lightweight steel framing system, which will keep the aesthetic appeal and meet the owner’s strict budget requirements.
