Formula for the Future

We are currently designing a 425,000 square foot, 192-bed acute care expansion including surgery, imaging, clinical ancillary services, a pharmacy, support and general services. The design maximizes the use of natural light and all elements are scaled to be child-friendly. The hospital is pursuing a LEED platinum rating. The expansion includes 128,000 square feet of renovation, a 56,000 square-foot medical office building, and a 1,000 car underground parking garage. The highest ranked children’s hospital in California is also ranked in the top 10 nationally by US News and World Report. With one of the best teams of pediatric specialists in the world, Packard and Stanford are vital to training the next generation of pediatric leaders and developing new treatments for childhood diseases.

On May 2, 2007, the Lucile Packard Foundation for Children’s Health launched an exciting initiative. Breaking New Ground, a five-year, $300 million campaign, will raise critical funding to address the opportunities and needs facing Packard Children’s and the community, including plans for a major expansion of the hospital to better serve children who need its care.
