Culture:

I chose Degenkolb because it is both the biggest small firm and smallest big structural engineering firm in the area. Degenkolb is small enough to inspire one-on-one group interaction between young designers and seasoned principals, all while maintaining an open and responsive atmosphere to questions, concerns, and requests from every level employee. On the other hand Degenkolb is also large and revered enough to provide everyone with a large quantity of the highest quality work.

Career:

It means quite a bit more for me to work for an employee-owned firm for the precise reason that it gives a designer like me the ability to feel that my actions and decisions have as much of an impact on the success of our firm as everyone else’s. Our firm empowers the people to help guide the firm in the direction that we agree upon.

Degenkolb is one of the most responsive employers I have ever worked with. Everyone in the firm seems to be happy to help you further your career by giving you the opportunities to do so, which in turn helps further their career.

Passion:

I love planning events. I have no clue why, but, it makes me ecstatic to plan an event and see people actually enjoy what they’re doing, all while bring their own spin on the events. I routinely plan alumni events for my alma mater and also help with some Degenkolb event planning.

On the job:

The people are the best thing about my job. Every morning when I get to work I think of how amazing it is to be apart of a group of people who love what they do as much as me. I enjoy thinking about how fun I have learning new things and gaining new perspectives of both engineering and life from my coworkers. Absolute best part of the job.
