Degenkolb

Outplayed at Lowell Field

In last nights battle of youth versus experience, experience came out ahead. Degenkolb was matched up against perennial powerhouse Toft, de Nevers & Lee for their second league game of the year. TDNL didn’t have to hit it hard to keep the runners moving around the bases, they just had to hit it where we weren’t standing. With their average age about 20 years our senior, they had mastered this critical softball skill.

The bats were silent, or at least whispering for the Degenkolb team. Luke Ruggeri picked up an RBI on a bloop single over second base scoring Taka Yokoyama. Brian Sweeney picked up the second RBI of the night in the top half of the seventh, but unfortunately thats where the rally ended. In the field, Tim Nelson showed strong defensive play, snagging a line drive at third base that nearly knocked him off his feet.

Thanks to Stacy Bartoletti, and Rachel Baylson for cheering us on, and Melissa Vickery for keeping score.

Next game is Wednesday, July 30th aganist DMJM at Defremery Field. We’ll be back and ready to win!
