Charles Krug Winery Wins Again
The Charles Krug Winery Redwood Cellar and Carriage House Rehabilitation has won another award! Napa County Landmarks has selected the project as a 2009 Award of Merit winner. The foundation honors organizations that preserve architectural and cultural heritage by preserving irreplaceable historic structures.
A little background on the winery…it’s the oldest continuously operating winery in Napa Valley. Charles Krug founded the winery in 1861 and today, it is on the National Historic Registry. The Peter Mondavi Family now runs the winery. Degenkolb Engineers designed the rehabilitation and strengthening of the winery, which focused on the two oldest buildings, the Redwood Cellar and Carriage House. Through careful materials testing, conservation efforts, and thoughtful structural design, the project team delivered on the Peter Mondavi Family’s most important requirement: preserve the history and character-defining features of the winery.
The presentation of awards will be held this Sunday, October 11th from 3 to 5pm at Clos Pegase Winery in Calistoga.
Congratulations to the team!
