The Structural Design of Tall and Special Buildings Journal (Volume 9, Number 6) selected Chris Poland to be the 2010 Structural Engineer of the Year. Chris was selected due to his exemplary career, his numerous contributions to the structural engineering profession, and his involvement in professional organizations. Chris has been a part of the strong leadership at Degenkolb, "one of the greatest structural engineering firms in the world" as described by Gary Hart.

Degenkolb celebrated turning 70 with a bang and an anniversary party at the beautiful, historic Walt Disney Museum in San Francisco on October 14, 2010. The party hosted close to 500 guests over the course of the night, who were able to tour the Walt Disney gallery and then continue on to the Exhibition Hall. The San Francisco Business Times hosted a Healthcare Summit breakfast on July 13th in the Hilton hotel. With many great speakers and panelists, the focus of the morning was on the future of healthcare, and the impact of healthcare reform on providers and insurers. Monday, June 14, 2010 marked the reopening of Oakland's Fire Station No. 18! The Degenkolb team proudly made it out to the ribbon cutting ceremony. The station closed for renovation in April 2009 to accomodate newer model fire trucks, and reopened its doors to a new LEED Gold facility. Oakland's Fire Station No. 18 is the first facility in the fire department to be certified LEED Gold.
