Lake Merritt Boathouse Wins Concrete Award

Alpha Restoration and Waterproofing submitted work done on the historic Lake Merritt Boathouse for recognition by the International Concrete Repair Institute. The project has been designated an Award of Merit for 2009. "Severe spalling and structural deficiencies were uncovered once excavation began and the substructure was exposed in December 2006. Thorough investigations were immediately employed to determine the extent and causes of the deficiencies. Plans and specifications were developed by February 2007. Extra, Extra! Chris Poland Featured in SF Business Times Article

The new Senate Bill 499 is the focus of a San Francisco Business Times article, which features Degenkolb Engineers chairman and CEO Chris Poland. Last year, Chris testified in favor of the new law since the previous 2013 deadline was not economically feasible for many hospitals. Among other things, Senate Bill 499 allows hospitals to have an extension for structural upgrades.

Chris Poland Presented EERI Northern California Chapter Award

As an active member of the Earthquake Engineering Research Institute (EERI), Chris Poland has been honored many times for his contribution to the organization.  Most recently, Chris was presented an award at the holiday party by the EERI Northern California chapter for his innovation and exemplary practice in earthquake risk reduction in Northern California.
